As the unemployment rate rose toward 25 percent, some 300,000 Mexicans who had arrived in the 1920s, as well as their US-born children, were repatriated or returned to Mexico between 1930 and 1933 by state and local police in California and other states to open jobs for US workers. WebThese people only wanted to make a new life for themselves. Instead they were judged and discriminated against purely based on their race and where they came from. During WW1 German Americans were treated like outcasts. Even though they were now Americans and lived here they were still judged based on their backgrounds.
